Innkeepers:Lynn & Paul Schmaltz

?

Welcome

Escape for a brief time from phones, traffic and hassles to Casa Milagro, established in 1997, in the heart of mountain fun! Your log home hideaway, overlooking the Williams Fork River, is nestled in the pine trees and offers all the convenience and "put your feet up" comfort of home.

We are located halfway between Silverthorne (off I-70) and Hot Sulphur Springs (off US 40) on the well-maintained County Rd 3. It is over an hour away to the only stoplight in Grand County, and only 35-70 minutes away from 8 golf courses and 8 ski areas! The new Hot Sulphur Springs Baths & Spa is only 18 miles away.

You will love your mountain paradise in our log home and leave refreshed in body, mind and spirit!

Casa Milagro is on 2 acres complete with corral for guest horses

Amenities

Lynn and Paul bring their New Mexico and Colorado background to their breakfast menu selection and preparation. Snacks and meals are served family style in the kitchen/great room. You'll enjoy mountain hearty breakfasts with steaming hot coffee, specialty teas and juice. A typical gourmet southwestern breakfast may include baked chili rellenos with homemade tortillas or Dutch apple-peach pancakes with real maple syrup, or whipped cream and sausage. You'll have homemade cinnamon rolls, biscuits, the best bacon in Colorado or pogatica (nut bread). You might even get some of Paul's hearty fruit drink! Vegetarian meals are prepared upon request. If you prefer, you may make arrangements for an early continental-plus breakfast.

If you want to explore for dinner, you can go to Parshall, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling or Granby. Or if you're enjoying "chilling out" and staying out of the car, you can order ahead for a dinner of Lynn's pasta (her mom's family recipe), homemade soup and bread or Paul's outrageous chili and beans (his New Mexico recipe from Tito). If you're having dinner in the house, Lynn needs 24-hours' notice, there is an extra charge and the menu is "cook's choice."

You'll also enjoy daily maid service, guest telephones and afternoon treats including coffee, tea, juice, fruit, warm homemade bread or cookies just out of the oven and spicy popcorn.

For the business traveler, a fax, fax-copier and in-room telephone may be arranged.

Lynn and Paul can also help kidney dialysis patients by arranging time at the vacation hemodialysis unit just 45 minutes away.

As an added convenience for those guests who enjoy horses, Casa Milagro has overnight boarding facilities for guests' horses at $10 per night for each horse.

Activities

You'll enjoy relaxing on the couch and "power bird watching" (drinking coffee or tea and watching birds at the same time). The greatroom has a TV for watching videos (we suggest you go on a news fast while you're here, especially since it's more fun to watch birds and listen to the river). Plus, there are books galore to choose from. Just out the door is the main level deck overlooking the Williams Fork River.

Activities you can enjoy right from the house are fishing (premier gold medal fishing on the Colorado River is just a few miles north), hiking (Lake Evelyn is a beautiful nearby hike), and mountain biking in the summer.

The decks have a view of the pines and the Williams Fork River

In the winter you can enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling near the house; six major ski areas are only 45 minutes away for downhill skiing and snowbiking! Enjoy the bustle of the slopes and then retreat to the peace and quiet of Casa Milagro!
