In 1870, A. H. Root, proprietor of the New Greeley House said, "This hotel, having been lately repaired and enlarged, is now open for the reception of Guests. The patronage of the public is solicited, and no pains will be spared to make it pleasant and comfortable for all."
?

It is the Sod Buster Inn's intent to carry on this tradition!

Amenities

    ?

The Inn is located on the Historic Monroe Corridor (now 9th Avenue, two blocks between downtown Greeley and the University of Northern Colorado). The unique octagonal, three-story structure with off-street parking, was built in 1997. It was warmly and enthusiastically received by members of the Monroe organization as a piece of architecture that blends in beautifully with the existing historic homes of the neighborhood.

The wrap-around verandah with rocking chairs and benches is your first opportunity to relax and enjoy our great Colorado weather as you begin your Sod Buster Inn experience. Once inside in the rotunda area, you can look up to the skylight in the cupola on the third floor.

The openness of the Great Room, with its comfortable furnishings and warm and inviting fireplace, offers a complete entertainment center and bookcases filled with reading materials that will meet a variety of interests. The dining area adjoins the Great Room, allowing you to use this area as a game or work space during the evening hours and to mingle with other guests over check-in refreshments, if you so desire.

You'll not go away hungry from our breakfast table! A full country breakfast of fruit, fruit juices, fresh baked breads and a special breakfast entree of the day will be served weekdays between 7:00-9:00 a.m. and on weekends from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Weather permitting, breakfast can be served on the verandah. If you need to leave us early, we can prepare a breakfast to go!

History

It was Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune, who said those famous words of "Go West, Young Man, Go West." Heeded by many, the City of Greeley was established as the Union Colony in 1870. The Inn is located on the original homestead of one of the earlier settlers, George W. Currier. The Currier family was noted for being successful civic leaders.

Our Guest Rooms

All guest rooms have been designed and furnished with your comfort and safety in mind. The Inn has fire sprinklers and secure door locks.
    ?

Though each room offers separate and distinct antique and classic country furnishings, all rooms offer the following amenities: Either a king or queen bed, desk with modem port and telephone, direct cable to main office printer, comfortable seating, reading lamps and private bath (some baths offer jetted tubs, while others have old fashioned clawfoot tubs or soaker tubs). Each bath, except one, offers a shower independent of the tub. A first floor room has been designed to assist our guests who have special needs. Each room has its own individual climate controls.
